business objects, developed using Smalltalk,
C++ and Java. Data and information are compiled from a number of
legacy projects which are not compatible, where interfaces to the
data do not exist, and absence of object design guidelines
resulted in proliferation of design schemas, redundant class
definitions, and multiple instances of data objects describing the
same business requirement.

|
Our
Solution: Melange's personnel streamlined the object
classes through creation of an object repository to check for
performance consistency, object interface consistency, as well as
traceability back to the business requirement. We also developed a
set of guidelines to ensure the quality for the next generation of
objects. The net result was the collapsing of over 2,000 objects
into 50 object classes.

Complex System
Integration |
|
|
Challenge:
Client has over 47 business systems developed using different
languages, supported by different databases, running on HP-UX, Sun
Solaris, IBM AIX, and other mainframe computers. The client's
order fulfillment is a multi-weeks process that is highly labor
intensive and requires extensive paper trail.
. |
 |
Our
Solution: Melange's personnel architected a
multi-tiered client server system, using CORBA as the middleware,
developed software user agents for each of the legacy systems,
which together are able to request and retrieve information from
each other through the software data bus.

Mobile Computing |
 |
Challenge:
A banking client wanted to offer mobile banking services and
customer-portfolio access over mobile devices such as wireless
capable PDA and Internet-enabled PCS phones.
. |
|

|
Our
Solution: Melange's personnel designed and developed an
ASP platform for this client, which supported a subscribe-notify
scheme. This approach enables the banking client to broadcast
non-sensitive information while the end user subscribes to only
that information which is of interest to him/her. The ASP server also
provided the necessary authentication and authorization to ensure
secured access using the WAP protocol.

Health Care IT
Consulting |
 |
Challenge:
A health care service provider who relied on several vendor
applications and
multiple EDI connections needed help securing health information
in electronic records during transfer to health plans and other health care
providers.
. |
 |
Our
Solution: Melange's personnel assisted the provider in
documenting the current
infrastructure and configurations. Hardware and software
recommendations were made
that took advantage of existing system investments and still met
compliance requirements. Implementation and testing
assistance completed the work to ensure electronic records'
confidentiality was protected and HIPAA Privacy and Security rules
were met.
